Your turn: We’ve been yapping long enough; time for you guys to weigh in. Use the comment section, or send an email back with a comment along with your permission to post it. In summary, the President proposed an expansion of a cut in payroll taxes and new spending on public works. The size of the proposal, however, was much larger than predicted, and much of the money would flow into the economic bloodstream in 2012.

His blather about creating jobs irritates and saddens me. There are many many peeps looking for work, and others looking for more gainful employment that this pres. seems out of touch with working americans
It is truly shameful that our President the “President of Change” has a love affair with the GOP. I do not recall FDR compromising with Adolf Hitler nor I do not believe George Washington was making deals with the King George way back in the 17 hundreds. I believe he is on track of a one term President

Hi Hank,
Have you ever driven over the Hoover Dam? How many jobs did that marvelous project create?
The TVA also put hundreds of jobs out there. Let’s go down the short list of government projects that put us, the ordinary citizen, to work.

Without coverage from Medicare my new knee replacements would not have happened, “Those who forget the past, are doomed to repeat it.” (Santyana) While most of the above mentioned programs only offerred modest relief, they at least saved millions in our country from starvation. WWII brought us out of the Depression. Sadly, as the last fifty or so years has shown us, War is the norm and Peace is the illusion.

Loved the speech. If he were a gymanist, I would say he “Stuck it” and give him a 10.

Honorable President Barack Obama DRAFT
Whitehouse 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
Washington DC 20500
Dear Mr. President:
Congratulations on your excellent speech on September 8th proposing The Jobs Plan? Your explaining it to the voters is essential. Part of it you can finance by executive orders but that which requires legislation will not pass because The Republicans want you to fail although it will harm our nation. Their intransigence gives you an opportunity to discredit them without blatant critasizum. As you develop the specifics of your plan must improve, not weaken the entitlements.
Medicare should be improved by:
1. Reversing several of the negative and wasteful provisions of the Medicare Law of 2005:
• End Medicare Plan C, Advantage.
• End or reduce the profit of the private medical insurance companies administering Medicare part D.
• Eliminate the donut hole.
• Allow negotiation for volume discounts on purchase of drugs.
2. Finish and publish widely your efficacy and price comparison of each class of drug, including generic and brand drugs.
3. Continue to encourage the computerization of medical records to save lives
4. Complete and publish widely the minimum standard of care for each disease
and illness, to
• Prevent needless diagnostic work, treatment and surgery and equipment by providers which increases the cost of medical care with no benefit.
• Deters eliminate the basis for frivolus law suits.
5. Make Medicare solvent by increasing funding by FICA Tax by having those with income above $ 250,000 pay the Tax.

Do not: allow the following changes in Medicare:
• Raise the elgebility age. If it is raised from 65 t0 67, it would save the fund $ 5.6 billion bur would seriously impair medical care for millions in need. An alternative to the Public Option in the Affordable Care Act, is to lower the ellgability age until everyone is covered.
• Increase, not reduce payments to physicians who provide services under Medicare.
The Paul Ryan budget passed by the Republican controlled House of Representatives and endorsed by all of the Republican candidates for the presidency would destroy Medicare. To maintain the current benefits, the average senior would have to pay $6,000/ year. If voters understand this, Democrats will sweep the election in 2012.
Social Security should not be changed. It will be solvent until 2036, then small adjustments will make it solvent indefinitely.
Do not weaken social security by:
• Raising the retirement age. Workers who use their bodies wear out.
• Decreasing benefits to the disabled, survivors or retired.
Those with no other income barely subsist.
• Allowing privatization. If 1/3rd of the FICA Tax goes to private accounts, benefit will be reduced to 78% of current level. Management fees will use 20% of the money, even if the stock market is stable.
• Allowing COLA to be discontinued or be reduced by what is known as the chained CPI. We need a rate which at least keeps up with inflation.
• Means testing by income would save little unless the exclusion was near poverty level. Income Tax in benefits is already means testing.
• Means testing by net worth would be impossible to administer fairly.
• Cut the funding to administer Social Security. The cost lowest of any medical insurance program
God bless you and the United States of America.
Sincerely,
